Abhay Bhushan

Mr Abhay Bhushan is Chairman of Asquare, Inc., and Director of Pointcross, Inc. He was the first president of PanIIT USA, and is past president of IIT Kanpur Alumni Association, IIT Kanpur Foundation, and Indians for Collective Action.  He has been an entrepreneur and co-founded YieldUP International (a public company acquired by FSI International in 1999), and Co-founded Portola Communications (a private company acquired by Netscape in 1997) and served as its Chairman, President, and CEO.  Mr Bhushan is an Internet pioneer, a major contributor to the development of the Internet TCP/IP architecture, and is the author of the File Transfer Protocol and the early versions of email protocols. In 1990, he initiated the award-winning Environmental Leadership Program at Xerox Corporation, and was its manager of the program from 1990 to 1995. Mr Bhushan is an active marathoner and Ironman triathlete. In 2010, he helped organize and completed 50K run at the IIT Kanpur Golden Jubilee Ultramarathon. In 2006 he  received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT Kanpur. Mr Bhushan received his BTech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and in Management from MIT. He is the joint holder of over a dozen US patents and resides in Palo Alto, CA.

Prabhakar Goel

Dr Prabhakar Goel has held positions in engineering and technical management with IBM and Wang Laboratories. In 1990 Dr Goel was recognized as “Entrepreneur of the Year” for New England by Inc magazine and Ernst Young. Since 1992 Dr Goel has been a private venture capitalist involved with several companies. He currently serves on the boards of InsideVault Inc and FusionOps Inc. he is also a founding member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE). Dr Goel won the 2003 IEEE Industrial Pioneer Award for his work on design modeling and design verification through Verilog and Verilog-based design. Dr Goel holds MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a BTech from IIT Kanpur where he was awarded the President’s Gold Medal for academic excellence.

Arvind Jain

Dr Arvind Jain is an internationally recognized authority in the aluminum industry with over 30 years of experience in the business. He founded AXJ Resources LLC, a metals and mining consulting company focused on aluminum, in 2013. Earlier he was Vice-President Strategy & Investments at Rio Tinto Alcan, in Montreal, Canada. Prior to that he headed the Energy Modeling Group at SRI International in Menlo Park, California. Dr Jain holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Operations Research from Case Western Reserve University and a BTech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur where he was awarded the B.C. Roy Gold Medal as the best undergraduate student of the year. He has been at the forefront of the IIT alumni movement in the USA for over 30 years, serves on the Board of PanIIT and is a past President of the IIT Kharagpur Foundation. Dr Jain was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by IIT Kharagpur in 2011.

Anjali Joshi

Ms Anjali Joshi is Vice President of Product Management at Google, where she currently leads Google’s efforts in health search and is working on defining new initiatives in the health space.   Previously she led the product management team for search and image search.  With the growth in the number of people using smartphones, the focus of her teams was to build new search experiences optimized for mobile devices across all geographies and languages. Prior to that she led product management teams for Google Maps, Infrastructure, Research, Translate, News, Finance and Google.org.  She also led the early Google efforts for Cloud services and Fiber networks. Before joining Google, Ms Joshi was Executive Vice-President of Engineering at Covad Communications, the first DSL Competitive Carrier in the US. She was also Principal Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Labs where she led projects to build the first large scale high speed data networks in the US. She received her Master’s degree in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University, a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering from the State University of New York, and a BTech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur.  She was selected as one of the top 50 alumni who have graduated from IIT Kanpur in the last 50 years. She serves in advisory roles to several start-ups and was on the board of TIE, Silicon Valley.

Raj Mashruwala

Mr Raj Mashruwala serves on the boards of Syntel (SYNT), DeltaID Inc. and Healthifyme. He is a mentor/advisor to several early startup ventures. Mr Mashruwala retired from TIBCO Software Inc. as an Executive Vice President in the office of CEO. Prior to that, he was the Chief Operating Officer at TIBCO Software Inc.  TIBCO Software, based in Palo Alto California, was founded in 1997 and did its initial public offering in July 1999. In the fiscal year ending October 2014, TIBCO Software had annual revenues of over one billion dollars. Mr Mashruwala built and led the worldwide sales and marketing operations since the founding of TIBCO. As Chief Operating Office, Mr Mashruwala was also responsible for engineering, professional and support services. Prior to joining TIBCO, Mr Mashruwala co-founded YieldUp International, a semiconductor equipment manufacturing company, Media Computer Technology Inc., an ASIC design house and Consilium Inc., a Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) software provider. Mr Mashruwala led Consilium’s R&D and professional services operations since the company’s inception. Mr Mashruwala has an MS in Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a BTech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay. He holds several patents on Object Oriented Modeling for Manufacturing Systems. Mr Mashruwala’s community service roles include:

Chief Biometric Coordinator (2009-2011), UID Authority of India, Technology Centre. Mr Mashruwala has been an early volunteer in this ambitious nation-building project of Indian Government. UIDAI plans to issue unique ID to every Indian resident based on comprehensive biometric traits.

Ruyintan E. Mehta

Mr Ruyintan E. Mehta has been a serial entrepreneur in the plastics industry in New Jersey, California, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Canada. He is a licensed Professional Chemical Engineer in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and a Certified Volunteer Mentor of SCORE Central Jersey, a non-profit resource arm of the US Small Business Administration that provides free counseling and mentoring to small businesses and entrepreneurs. Mr Mehta received his BTech degree in Chemical Engineering from IIT Bombay and Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Connecticut and in Engineering Administration from the University of Utah. Mr Mehta is currently the President of IIT Bombay Heritage Foundation, the alumni body of IIT Bombay in the US and he is the Co-Director of the Water program for Wheels Global Foundation,  a US based non-profit started by IIT alumni in the US that involves using technology based philanthropy for rural development in India.

Sandeep Pandya

Mr Sandeep Pandya is a Principal and President of SP Asset Management, Cupertino, California. He has over two decades of experience in wealth management, investing and financial markets. An entrepreneur, he started SP Asset Management, an investment advisory firm which has assets under management of over US$ 300 million. Mr Pandya is an active early stage investor in technology companies. He has invested in over 22 companies and is on the board of several companies. In addition, he is a mentor/advisor to many early stage ventures. Prior to his investment career, Sandeep spent close to a decade in the software industry in various engineering, architect and leadership roles designing embedded systems for Measurex, Octel and Lucent. Mr Pandya has an MS in Engineering from UC Berkeley and a B Tech (Silver Medal) from IIT Bombay. Mr Pandya’s community service roles include:

  • Co-Founder of IIT Bombay Heritage Foundation. Held various officer positions (President Emeritus, President, Treasurer) for over 20 years. Helped build a vibrant alumni organization, established many best practices and played a key role in raising around $40M for the benefit of IIT Bombay.

Bipin Shah

Mr Bipin Shah is a High Technology industry executive and an entrepreneur in the San Francisco Bay area where he has lived for over forty years. He is currently CEO and Chairman of Kovair Software based in San Ramon, California with offices in India. He has been involved as a founding General Partner of INC3 Ventures, a startup seed venture fund in Silicon Valley.  His prior professional and entrepreneurial experiences included being Vice President of Operations for Altera Corporation, a programmable logic chip company and as President of Altera Japan from the Company’s Tokyo office and as CEO of Invox Technology.  Mr Shah started his chip technology career with Fairchild Semiconductor in the early seventies and held several technical and business management positions at Fairchild for 11 years. He holds a BE degree in Electrical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata and a MSEE from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His outside non-profit activities include being one of the founding Charter members of TiE, a global organization that promotes and mentors entrepreneurs, being on the President’s Advisory Council at California Polytechnic Institute at Pomona for over six years and educational non-profits such as the Foundation for Excellence – FFE, Jain Education and Research Foundation - JERF and the Ahimsa Center at Cal Poly Pomona. He also serves as a board member of IIT Gandhinagar Foundation in the San Francisco Bay area. Mr Shah has served in both advisory and board member capacities for several startup companies over the last two decades and has been a speaker at several technical and business conferences both in the US and India.
